A few of us decided to go on a scouting mission to the Amargosa Hotel, to check out the accommodations, an investigate one of the most haunted hotel’s in America. Upon arrival I was surprised at how large a complex the hotel was, and how easy of a drive it was to get there from Las Vegas. We Entered the hotel and was greeted at the front desk by Mary Lee, we told her that we were from the Las Vegas Ghost Trackers, and almost instantly she started to tell us ghost stories and personal encounters in the hotel. Then we met Rich, City Manager, Judge and Jury of Death Valley Junction, population 4. Rich knows the hotel inside and out, he took us on a Grand tour of the hotel and to all of the hot spots, that are not open to the general public. Listening to Rich you know he has a love for the hotel and the area, and it shows though his personality, in fact all the staff we encountered were extremely helpful, and had many stories to share, we were made to feel very welcome in the hotel, at least by the living.
By Saturday afternoon everyone that was coming up arrived, we all purchased tickets to see Marta Becket, she has one show a week on Saturday evenings, Marta is 84 years young and her story and art work are amazing, the Amargosa Opera House is a must see, plus it has known paranormal activity as well. After the show the music room is opened and a 1914 player piano, plays out some old favorites of years past. The feeling of the Amargosa Hotel truly is magical, as you feel like you have taken a big step back in time, and are living in a part of the local history. Now it was time to set up some recording devices, and see if we could make some contact with the other side. One of the first things to happen was the strong scent of a woman’s perfume almost a lilac scent, outside of room 20 which was mine and Ron’s room so we knew we weren’t wearing any thing that smelled like that. After that it was off to the restricted area’s, we made a pass through the old dormitory area, snapping pictures and attempting to make contact or record an EVP. Around the shower room, after asking if any one would like to speak to us, you could smell the strong sent of soap, like the old brown soap used years ago, one of the group started to feel hot and uneasy in the area, so we decided to take a break. To sum up the night we all had personal encounters of various degrees, we hope that some of them got recorded on our electronic devices, I hope to make more trips back to Amargosa Hotel. I felt a certain peace of mind I had not felt for some time. Just a little general information about the area, they do have café serving, a great burger just ask the cook she will tell you how good they are, and they got my vote, just a little south of the hotel is the cemetery, which is worth a look, and 26 miles south is Shoshone CA, they have a Museum, and some interesting sites where miners had dug out living quarters in the sides of the local hills, plus an interesting cemetery as well. I can’t say enough about the night sky, it bright and star filled, should be an outstanding location for star gazing or looking for that UFO. Well done Glen. I was there there and I can truthfully say that your assessment of the trip is 100% accurate. However, no matter how well written , words cannot do justice to the magic and beauty the hotel and grounds hold.

Wow!! Caught in the act. The group is too slick to pull the wool over your eyes. I fess up, yes, this was the reason I missed the comedy thing. A few of us went up to check out the place and make sure it would be an acceptable place for an overnight meet up with a larger group. We plan to talk about this at our meetup at Len's house. Glen has posted some pictures and we are looking at some video and audio tapes (I hope we got some good EVPs) that we will post soon.

If enough people are interested in a weekend trip to the Armagosa Hotel, maybe we can arrange it enough in advance to not hurt any pocketbooks (wallets for you youngens). Maybe even arrange a group rate. I would definitely be interested in that.

Hello Everyone! I just called the hotel and spoke to Richard. I got my husband and I 2 double beds. They are out of king rooms and this MAY have been the last 2 double beds, but I know they have roll away beds as well.
If you are going, you may want to call them soon! Just an update. |
